Commanders and Recruitment
Commanders now have more attributes than ever before; a leadership rating that determined the number of Forces they can control, combat abilities, morale and attributes. These attributes serve many purposes. They are used to determine success in recruitment of new commanders, and they can also give the player hints about other aspects of the commander. In addition, they can be 'silent' and the recruitment table can become hidden as in Lords of Midnight.
Commanders also have loyalty. This loyalty decays as the commander loses battles, and takes a big hit if his home stronghold is conquered. Commanders with low loyalty are easier to recruit, and if all loyalty is lost the commander deserts his liege and becomes his own agent again. Moreover, he will never rejoin that side.
Recruiting is handled in the same way as Doomdark's Revenge, where the commander has to have movement left to approach another, and his action will result in success, indifference or battle. Unlike Revenge, however, there is no combat bonus either way.
